Just because cold wintery weather is right around the corner. does mean you have to suffer from dry skin.
The first place most of us look for help with our dry skin is a moisturizer. Most women do use a different moisturizer in the winter than the summer months. Choose a moisturizer with a thicker texture for the winter. While this is a step most women follow – it is not the only step to take.
Here are 3 defenses against dry winter skin:
1. Take a look at your cleanser.
You want to use a cleanser that does not dry your skin. It should be free of chemicals that will strip your skin of its natural oil. You might change to a cream cleanser in the winter if you are currently using a foamy cleanser.
2. Check your diet.
Does your diet include healthy fats? Your body needs fat to process the skin vitamins of A, D, E, and K to help combat dry skin. Make sure your diet includes the healthy fats of olive oil, avocados, walnuts, and almonds. Coconut oil does not count. Coconut oil has more saturated fat than lard. Make avocado toast for breakfast. Add snacks of organic nuts or nut butters.
3. Add Hyaluronic Acid supplements.
Hyaluronic acid is nature’s moisturizer. Moisturize your dry skin from the inside by taking at least 200 mg of a quality supplement each day. Hyaluronic acid not only helps moisturize your skin but it will help with joint lubrication and dry eyes.
Incorporate these 3 easy defenses and your dry skin will survive the winter in style!
