We are coming upon the busiest time of the year and now more than ever, self-care is so important.

November and December seem to go by with a flash. Have you ever wondered on New Year’s Day what happened during the holidays? Self-care is of most importance during this time. Arriving at family get-togethers or work parties stress-free and looking great is the best way to enjoy this time of year. When you arrive at a stressful event already anxious and not feeling like your best self, you are already thinking about when you can leave!

Here are 5 tips for self-care to help you move through a stress-filled time of year looking like you just came back from vacation.

Plan Ahead

The first step for a stress-free holiday is to plan. I know you think you are too busy to take time for self-care, but everyone has the time. Look at your calendar and make an appointment you will not cancel. Pay ahead. Do whatever works for you where you will not cancel.

What Floats Your Boat?

What self-care service makes you feel like a million dollars and removes every ounce of stress? Is it a massage? A facial? A half-day or a full day at the spa? Explore what service de-stresses you like no other.

Beauty Appointments

Plan ahead for hair, nails, and eyebrow services. Don’t call the day before the big party to try to find someone who can help you. This adds more stress to the situation. Look at your calendar and schedule your beauty appointments early and on your schedule, not your beautician’s schedule.

Need a Special Occasion Dress?

Survey your closet. What events do you have during the holidays? Do you have the outfit that will make you feel like a million bucks? Don’t think you will lose 10 pounds before the event and you will fit into “that” outfit. This adds additional stress, which will probably make you gain weight. You want to arrive stress-free and feeling great.

Makeup Services

Did you know you can make an appointment to have your makeup done? Independent makeup artists are available for makeup lessons. Call your makeup counter at the department store. Most makeup counters will make an appointment for a makeup service. Inquire if there is a charge. Sometimes, the charge will go toward the purchase of product. A makeup service can be so fun and also informative. Whether you want someone to just do your makeup or whether you want to learn how to do a special eye look, this can be time well spent.

Now is the time to grab a cup of coffee and your calendar and schedule everything! Plan self-care dates during the holidays and make them memorable for all the right reasons. Having enjoyable memories of events and family time, instead of remembering how upset and stressed you were, is invaluable.
