Adequate sleep is one of the most important habits you can practice for health and longevity.
It is also very important for beauty and anti-aging. Your body repairs itself at night, cleansing away the day’s stress and anxiety. But the skin also repairs itself at night.
Along with a holistic approach to your beauty routine, here are 5 steps to make the most of your overnight anti-aging program.
Get a full night’s sleep
Go for the optimum 8 hours of sleep. Try going to bed and rising with the sun. Set your body clock to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, even on the weekends. You will know you have the right schedule when you begin to wake up right before the alarm sounds.
Have a night-time skincare beauty routine
Cleansing your skin before going to bed is a must. Maybe you even cleanse twice: once to remove makeup and another for deep cleansing. Then, use a product that will help your skin repair during the night. Do not use your anti-oxidant or other products meant for the day. Use what your skin needs for deep rejuvenation.
Consider your sleep position
If you wake up with a puffy face, consider elevating your face slightly above heart level. Sleeping on your back instead of on your stomach or side will help from waking with sheet lines on your face.
Use silk sheets
Silk sheets will not only help prevent creases on your face, but the silk will reduce the chance of frizziness in your hair. Not to mention that the feel of silk on your body will calm your spirits and help you sleep.
Use a humidifier in your bedroom
This is my all-time favorite! Not only does it help with keeping your skin moisturized, but it also helps the tissue lining the nose stay hydrated. Use a humidifier all year long. The heat during the winter will dry the air but don’t think just because it is summer you don’t need to use it.
Use these 5 steps and you will wake each morning looking and feeling like Sleeping Beauty!
